In August, China’s stainless steel exports increased significantly

The General Administration of Customs released statistics on the import and export of stainless steel and main raw materials in China in August this year. In August, China’s stainless steel imports decreased month-on-month, exports increased month-on-month, and net exports decreased month-on-month; Scrap stainless steel imports increased from the previous quarter.
From the import point of view, in August, China’s stainless steel imports were 99,500 tons, a decrease of 20,100 tons from the previous month, a decrease of 16.81%; A year-on-year decrease of 75,100 tons, or 43.00%. Among them, China imported 71,800 tons of stainless steel from Indonesia, a decrease of 24,000 tons from the previous quarter, a decrease of 25.05%; A year-on-year decrease of 73,700 tons, or 50.65%. From January to August, China’s stainless steel imports totaled 1.327 million tons, an increase of 172,700 tons, an increase of 14.96%. Among them, China’s imports of stainless steel from Indonesia totaled 1.236 million tons, an increase of 228,600 tons, an increase of 25.54%.
From the export point of view, in August, China’s stainless steel exports were 48800 tons, an increase of 77,400 tons from the previous month, an increase of 18.85%; An increase of 121,700 tons, an increase of 33.22%. From January to August, China’s stainless steel exports totaled 3,263,300 tons, an increase of 498,300 tons, an increase of 18.02%.
Overall, in August, China’s net exports of stainless steel were 388,500 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 97,700 tons, down 33.60%; An increase of 196,800 tons, an increase of 102.66%. From January to August, China’s net exports of stainless steel totaled 1,936,300 tons, an increase of 325,500 tons, or 20.21%.
In addition, in August, China’s waste stainless steel imports were 70,600 tons, an increase of 0.17 million tons, an increase of 32.66%; A year-on-year decrease of 10,900 tons, or 60.77%. From January to August, China’s total imports of waste stainless steel were 67,300 tons, a decrease of 154,000 tons, or 69.59%.
